Activities available at this hotel are fantastic. Especially if you have older kids. We particularly enjoyed the archery, air rifle and air soft activities. As always, Indonesian hospitality is second to none. All the staff at the hotel were always eager to help, greeted you with warm smiles and ensured your stay was as comfortable as possible. The horse riding, ATV, archery, air rifle and air soft staff were all really really nice. Even down to shuttle and in-resort taxi service drivers all went beyond expectations. Now, the downsides of our stay were: 1) travel out of the resort into the town areas. -The guys who run the in-resort taxi service (not the drivers but the guys who arrange the transport for you) are out to get you to spend more than required. My family is a party of three but were told the smallest vehicle is a seven-seater car (quoted at IDR 550k for a 2-way ride to a town about 15mins from the resort). However, upon speaking to our driver, we found out that there is a smaller vehicle that is slightly cheaper (IDR 400k - for the same trip). This car can only accommodate 3 passengers though (so if you're a small group of 3 or less, ask for the electric car). Also, we were told that ride-hailing services do not ply the resorts on Bintan; not sure how true this is though). 2) Food variety in the resort is not great and extremely overpriced. You could travel out to Simpang Lagoi for more variety and wallet-friendly options but the prices you pay for the taxi service do not justify (we did the math). 3) Minor things were the pool lights don't work at night, most activities end at 5pm (got to plan properly)

Was a little hesitant about booking a stay at Nirwana Resort hotel initially based on the pictures, but don't regret my decision at all! :) Place was clean, room was spacious, and overall a great stay for couples :) Only downside is that the gym is kinda small, and travelling to the other areas to enjoy the other facilities can get scary at night cos it is super dark + somewhat deserted. Another cons would be the massage, which really can be improved. Massage at the resort was expensive, and staff did not do a thorough job - could tell they were rushing to end work for the day. All those aside, the pool was great, room was great, staff was friendly and hospitable :) A good destination for a chill weekend getaway!!

I would say that this resort is lovely and services are great. Everything that you need are within the resort and we effectively didnt have to leave the resort at all throughout our 3d2n stay. Price point wise, its really not cheap. An average basic burger with fries meal with cost SGD30++ and with indonesian high tax rates, all the food, drinks and snacks are more than what you pay for in Singapore. They have activities provided all within the huge resort but prices are really not too affordable for an average traveller. Rooms are clean and staff are very warm. However, the aircon controls are not working and the rooms are extremely cold even though we had the aircon off-ed through out the 3d2n stay. It seems like its operated by centralised aircon system. As such, although there is a individual control temp control switch in each room, it doesnt work at all. It was so cold to the point that all the room doors and walls have huge patch of water condensation. It will be good if they can lower the centralised aircon temperature or do a full check on their thermostats. Apart from freezing rooms and expensives price point, it was a very good and relaxing resort that can help to unwind from the busy work days.

Good value for a short vacation”
First of all, Nirwana is a convenient destination when traveling from Singapore. It's a one hour ferry ride from Tanah Merah and 15 min bus ride from the ferry terminal. The highlight of this resort is the beach - powder white sand as far as the eyes can see. The gardens and pools were older, but well kept. We were there for two days and never left the resort. If you're a runner, there's a decent 7km loop from the hotel to the security gate to Keelong restaurant and back. It's a nice undulating run early in the morning. I don't recommend it at night because there are no lights and the buses can easily not see you and run you over. The food at the resort was good, but pricey. I would say similar to Singapore prices if not a little higher. Make sure your package includes free breakfast. The breakfast buffet is good for 80% of the people as long as you are not too picky. I thought the western breakfast was better than the Asian breakfast. We didnt' do any of the paid activities that the resort center offered because they were overpriced. I would have liked to work out at the main gym at the resort center, but the air conditioning was out so they shut down the gym. We ended up playing sports in the garden and swimming most of the day. Some said the in-house WiFi was slow and that you needed to pay for premium WiFi. We didn't find that to be the case. YouTube and Netflix worked fine using the in-house WiFi so I'm not sure if the concerns I read were well founded. We did stay there in early August when occupancy rate was around 50% so that could explain things. All in all, I think this was a successful family getaway at a great price. This resort is not for the super picky. For those who are, you should stay at the Banyan Tree or Club Med. We had dinner at the Keelong Seafood restaurant. Great, Instagrammable views, good food, and great service but a bit pricey. We thought it was worth it though. The food was delicious. We would definitely stay here again - with or without kids.
