Nice hotel, quiet & orderly. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again. The one concern I had was that when the reservation was made a 19% tax was added to the bill. I was a tourist on this trip and should not have been charged for the business tax. The reservation indicated that my visa credit card would be charged at the hotel, This was not the case. I am requesting a refund of the 19% tax. Thank you, Richard Johnson

With only eight rooms and relatively reasonable rates, we were pleased to discover the professionalism of the staff and the luxury of this hotel. The beautifully adapted 18th century mansion may be filled with lovely antiques, but it has perfectly modern a/c, bedding, and plumbing. Thus, you can imagine yourself in another century when Simon Bolivar stopped by to meet his friend the house's owner, Sir Watts, without sacrificing any of your creature comforts. Right in the heart of Cartagena, there could not be a more convenient and safe location. Breakfast is generous and delicious and served with flare. The small pool was a luxurious addition perfect for escaping Cartagena's heat. This hotel is in high-demand, and we ended up with the room which opened up right beside the breakfast area. However, by the third night of our stay, the hotel was able to move us to a more private 2nd floor suite, at no additional cost. Thank you, staff of Alfiz.

One of the worst for me. I travel the world. The hotel has 2 buildings the new one and the old one. I was dumped by some nasty clerk in the old building. She gave ma hard time to register, She was as nasty as you ever will find some one. She said I missed my reservation. I had paid for 3 nights prepaid.I reserved the new hotel. She dumped me in the old hotel and gave me the worst room. Nasty room, dirty, old, broken tiles, mildew in the bathroom, one tiny balcony looking and some noisy people plying tennis??? the service was poor. The food non descriptible. I got the rotten deal. The only good thing is the hotel is close to the airport 5 minutes by taxi or bus. They took me to the airport for free!!!!

This hotel was convenient to all the walled city charm. The balcony faces the street for excellent people watching, but is not large enough for a chair (2 of us can squeeze in standing up). The included breakfast is standard fare that gets you off to a good start in the morning. There is a hot tub on the rooftop terrace and friendly staff are available until 9pm to serve dinner and beverages. Rooms were clean and cozy and the AC kept us comfortable. The shower is high tech, but wasn't draining very quickly and made my partner and I nervous! The rooftop views are great, the hospitality is superb and I would recommend this hotel to anyone heading to Cartegena.

Perfect location at Cartagena walled city. Very good breakfast and friendly staff. Rooms are neat and comfortable. Ijust did not like the fact that I stayed in a room that the toilet door was made of glass, so we could see everything, a little bit of lack of privacy but it was ok. Sometimes one of us had to leave the room. kkkkkkkk Small swimming pool on the top of the building and sauna available. Also a small jacuzzi. They lend bikes for no charge so you can ride the city by bike. Hotel is surrounded by restaurants, travel agencies and shops. Many top restaurants were only 5 minutes far by foot. I recommend and definately would come back.

We have stayed in hotels al over the world and the staff at this hotel were the best we have ever encountered, very friendly and service oriented. It is a charming, traditional hotel in an excellent location within the historic centre of the city. The small rooftop pool and bar are delightful. There is a small gym with aerobic equpment but no weights. The beds are large and extremely comfortable.

The pool is fantastic. The rooms are very spacious with outstanding comfortable beds, thick mattresses raised with high bedsteads making them easy to get in and out of. There are safes and air conditioning. The place has obviously been designed by someone with an excellent eye. The layout makes it very relaxing. Spacious and tranquil around the pool. Breakfast is good quality with choice of eggs or pancakes, plentiful toast and fruit, coffee and tea, all on the table to help yourself to. It is served on one long table so you tend to meet the other guests and find out about other interesting things to do in the area. And there is a good pool table there as well - free to play and in good working order. As for location, for us it couldn't have been better. It is in the heart of Getsemani, on the same street as the main Plaza de la Trinidad, the focal point of social life in that area. Great bars and cafes, street food and street performers in the square every night. I have only two criticisms: 1) there is no door on the bathroom, only a curtain, and 2) you have to ring the bell to get through the main front door which makes coming in late a little bit awkward (but I guess security is more important). Despite these, we would stay here again in a flash. Highly recommended.

We had a very special time in Cartagena. The hotel was beautiful, clean, quiet, everything working well. Breakfasts were amazing. We had dinner in the restaurant, which is quite new. We were the only diners, however had the most amazing meal, in a very romantic setting. I would love to return some day, as we didn't have time to enjoy the beautiful rooftop outdoor area and spa.

It was a decent stay. I wanted to feel a bit more special, being a gold elite member at Holiday Inn, but they didn't give me much extra. Instead I was forced to pay for things like local calls. I accepted these extra fees but it would have been nice if they gave me a freebie on this stay In general the rooms are ok, the pool is nice, the gym has a few cardio machines and nothing really to train muscle. Watch out when going to the beach. Don't accept anything or they will walk all over you and make you pay things you didn't even want. There are guards between the hotel and beach to help you out if the "sellers" on the beach become aggresive. I noticed that its better to stay at the pool area than the beach (unfortunately).

The best hotel during our entire trip. I was initially staying in the Bocagrande area thinking that it was perhaps safer. Take my advice and stay here within the walled city instead. Great location with many good restaurants in close proximity. Great English speaking staff, esp Palao (sp?). We asked for a room was good wifi and were place immediately next to the router. Very strong signal, enough for video streaming. Clean, spacious rooms. Strong A/C. Lovely garden in the middle. Beautiful hotel. We were allowed a very late check out at a nominal fee. This hotel does not try to sneak the VAT. You'll appreciate this once you realize that it could cost you hundreds in even US dollars by the end of your stay in Colombia. I could not have asked for a better experience and could only wish that every hotel is like this one. Best value for a wonderful hotel. It receives my full recommendation.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Casa de Las Palmas for six days during our trip to Cartagena. The hotel staff are very friendly (little English is spoken by the staff), and the hotel is very cozy. The lobby is an open-air central courtyard with a pool, a couple of hammocks, foozeball, and a restaurant. The A/C in the rooms works beautifully and the accommodations are very clean and very secure. There are safes in the rooms, the hotel doors lock at night, and there are security cameras watching the entrances. We ordered dessert from the restaurant and the staff happily delivered it to the room. The complimentary breakfast is a mix of fruits and hot coffee. Upon departure, the hotel called a taxi for us to the airport and paid for the far. A very pleasant stay overall!

As a hostel is excellent probably one of the best i have stayed in, though if you book the private rooms, the value for money is not good, as no extra services are included different from the hostel shared bedrooms, and the price is the same as a 4* hotel, unfortunately check in was not earlier than 15:30 after insisting. again great hostel but don’t stay here in the private rooms

Pro: Big, clean and spacious rooms. Friendly staff and let us borrow beach towels for a day. Location was good.. right between the charm of old walled city and food and nigjtlife in getsemeni. Fresh fruits and water in lobby. Breakfast was great with many options. Noon Checkout was appreciated Cons: Wanted to book a day trip to Rosario islands and went to the front desk and the person made a call on his cell and passed it to me to speak with someone we could barely understand. We didn’t get anywhere so I had to walk to a travel stand to book a trip which was harder since they also didn’t speak English. That Wasn’t 4* service. Our shampoo and conditioners were never replaced. Pool isn’t that inviting..only a few seats and tiny. Not a spot we wanted to grab a drink on unlike other roofs we stayed at in Colombia.. overall clean and good stay

I spent 2 nights at the Estancia de La Mantilla. It's in a great location! It's peaceful and quiet. The breakfast is simply yet done with the freshest ingredients, making it so delicious. The staff is super helpful. I enjoyed the stay and moving to a 5 star after that (for work) made the switch a little difficult, I do miss the sanctuary like feel of Estancia de la Mantilla.

We stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Boutique Casa Isabel. Among our highlights were the complimentary breakfasts in the morning and fresh juice drinks as we arrived from touring or a day at the beach. Luis and Jaime, hotel staff who were there to immediately attend to us, are just the loveliest people. This hotel is also just around the corner from the Plaza Trinidad, where everyone in Getsemani gathers at night for a fun, friendly, and exciting time. We loved everythint about our trip!

We stayed as a couple before our wedding. We had four rooms booked in the hotel. Although there was some confusion with the booking before we arrived everything was fine once we were in Cartagena. The hotel helped with dry cleaning and transfers from the airport for our family. Everyone was very happy with their rooms and the breakfast next to the swimming pool on the roof was very nice. We would stay here again.
