Jiangsu Province hotels & places to stay

nanjing is not the easiest city to get around (as compared to say shanghai or beijing), but the jinling is an oasis of civility in a city that is not as quite. staff were very friendly and helpful, the refurb on the rooms is very modern and clean, and they even have their own loyalty program (apparently there are several jinling properties in jiangsu). the location is also very convenient, although i would recommend learning the subway system as taxi drivers in nanjing are notorious for refusing fares when there is any traffic congestion. otherwise, my stay was an absolute pleasure. i can also see this being a great place for the business traveller. free internet and wifi in most rooms!

I recommend the hotel. It is a very good value, at least the low price I paid. When a very credible breakfast is thrown in it is even better. Also, it is just off a very large pedestrian shopping/restaurant area. Many staff tried their best to be helpful. Some were more proficient in Englih than others. The "independent" tour desk was very poor. The man who was in charge would not arrange transport to a nearby town because "I might get in trouble if you get lost". I explained that I had been all over China by myself and all I needed was a drop of and pick up spot as well as a definite time. That was too much for the man. It was aggravating but I made alternative plans which went fine and was able to see the water town of Tongli from arrangements I made from Shanghai. Because of this, the language issues and the aging furniture I think the hotel is 3 1/2 stars. Still, it was comfortable, everything worked ( fast elevators, comfy bed and comforter, and all of the above positives I mentioned. I'm glad I stayed there.

I arrived in Nanjing from Beijing late close to midnight and had booked the hotel online with Agoda. I didnt know exactly where it was but was surprised to find it just a short walking distance from the airport exit still on airport property. The reception area is very big and yes this hotel is a very modern experience so expect the price of things to be higher than normal. I had been on a long journey that originated from the US through Beijing and on to Nanjing when I found that the hotel had no record of my reservation! After much discussion, I was able to show them my Agoda booking number and payment history through internet access but still had issues with Agoda. For the night they offered me my room and hoped that in the morning they would work to find my reservation with Agoda. My 9th floor room was large and had a walk out balcony with a view of the airport tarmac and planes taking off. The room was sound proof, the bed was very comfortable and the room had all the modern conveniences including a modern tub and shower area. There is also a safe, wet bar, large TV and good internet access if you dont try to get Google. for that you need a VPN. In the morning, I was able to phone Agoda to process my confirmation with the hotel. The hotel was very patient with me throughout the problem period and they handled it professionally.

Value very good, rooms large and smoking available bedding good quality just 3min walk to metro station ,you can go everywhere.not to many restaurants /eating places.mostly Chinese canteens,1 seven eleven cross the road another next to metro station. breakfast is good, western/Japanese/chines.The best one is seaweed salad Japanese style and Chinese dumplings Swimming pool very nice round one!!! i would recommend this hotel,

Hotel is well located at the famous at the famous Shantang Street where you can get a lot of good foods and nice shopping. Staff are all very friendly and helpful, a special thanks to our driver Mr Xu who spent his time recommended and advised us all the best places to visit in SuZhou. Room is big, clean and well kept. Hotel provide shuttle service to some of the attractions in Suzhou which really eased the trouble of getting public transport. Definitely the best place to stay in Suzhou^^

Beautiful property, the rooms are well appointed and the views form their main bar and lobby are impressive.Their restaurant options are excellent. Staff is very accomodating and friendly.FANTASTIC lap pool, great workout facilities. Their breakfast buffet is the best I have EVER experienced and I travel all over the world for business. Bar none the best breakfast buffet.

Everything about this hotel is what you'd expect from Novotel. I spent an enjoyable six nights and above everything else wish to praise the staff for their assistance to my needs, a first time traveler to Suzhou. Special mention to Victor on the Front Desk and Miss Vivian in the breakfast restaurant. My room was spotless; the pool crystal clear, breakfast buffet more than adequate; internet availability easily accessed. The subway (Line 1) is located underneath the hotel which makes getting to the tourism hot-spots a walk in the park. The only challenge is that of the traffic out front. The constant horn blowing characteristic of China takes some getting used to. I suggest turning in after 10 or asking for a room at the back of the hotel. I look forward to returning to this hotel before too long.

A very new, modern, and stylish hotel in a very good location (there's a mall and supermarket right below). Excellent view in the topmost-floor breakfast place, spacious and well-designed rooms, great high-speed wifi access. The only hassle is the need for an elevator change when going from the ground floor to the hotel rooms (need to change elevator at the hotel lobby, which is at a very high floor). But I would love to come back here!!

Great place to stay if you need to be in the area for business. It's right next to the Expo Center. The room was large and clean, with exception of some stains on the rug. The staff speaks very little English, but enough to assist with simple requests like calling a taxi. However, the hotel is far away from the city center, so it's not the best option for tourists. Also, it's a 20 min walk from the metro station and the area is not very well lit or populated at night. I would not recommend walking there to a woman traveling alone, as I encountered a man touching himself while I was walking back to the hotel one evening.

This is the best hotel i have stayed in China. Room was spacious , clean and sophisticated. Very friendly and polite staffs. 5 minutes away from Shan Tang street and plenty of food options at night ( Plenty of steamboat/spicy hotpot). Overall for the price we paid , couldn't find anything to complaint . MRT is only 2 minutes walk from the hotel and you can pretty much explore the whole city point of interest with it .

Impressive building and full of historical meaning. Room was comfortable and I had no problem at all with the state of furniture and carpeting and so on. Everything was good. The free entrance into the Banmen garden was a plus point. Our room view in the morning was unbeatable (garden, pagoda, you name it!). Location was not very near the old city, but only a short taxi ride away so not a problem. Services were excellent, everybody was very courteous and helpful. Definitely will recommend this hotel for my friends and families.

The hotel was awesome. The room was big and spacious, clean and the hotel shares building with a mall, so it's easy to do any of your shopping, its located close to several interesting sights aswell. the room came with a kitchen (not equipped), so for longer stays it would be perfect. I will admit that it is closer to a kind of an apartment then a hotel, lacking perhaps the facilities that certain travellers wish for. But it more then fulfilled my wishes.

Leaving Los Angeles for Nanjing, during which I had spent one night in Seoul Airport Hotel, I thought I would book a nice hotel for relaxation. My room is located on 60th floor, earning great view of Nanjing; it was raining during my stay there, literally heavy rain that aroused so much memory, but sadly I couldn't see anything clear but fog thanks to typical Chinese air quality. My room is really romantic. I love the light control, really of first quality. I also like the round bathtub. Generally great atmosphere for couples. Sadly such a romantic hotel room provided no condoms.

It is a newly opened hotel. Facilities, furnituers, everything is new a clean. Room is spacey, window view of Yangzi River is beauty, services are good. I reserved a double room, I changed to a singel big bed room when I checking in without any additional charge. It is also quiet for it locates at the side of river. Beside all, room rate is good for a world famous 5 star hotel.

Good location with convenient access to metro station, strategically located in the nice and organized industrial park. Modern architecture and the room is great and cozy. The only upset is the buffet breakfast experience. First escorted by rude and impudent staff to the seat, refused to make arrangement to the preferred seat location despite there are several empty seats nearby the window and responded in a sarcastic way. The staff cleared away the foods on time without informing the guest in advance.

In Hyatt Regency Suzhou, there is a very strict guy who works inside the man's locker room & swimming pool. He does his job very well. He does never let the people who don't follow the duty of the guests: "after the shower, with the slipper, wearing the swimming cap"- simple global manner whoever uses the swimming pool pf the hotel. The swimming pool is very clean. I enjoyed it and I really appreciate his effort. (But GrandHyatt Shanghai in Pudong, nobody bans the guests who come into the pool without a shower, without swimming cap, wearing outdoor shoes. That made the swimming pool not clean and smells bad. I couldn't enjoy that facility. And I felt bad in my eyes after the swimming two whole days.) Anyway, thanks for your considerate services and delightful kindness about letting the small exceptions and gorgeous facilities. Hyatt Regency Suzhou : 5 point all. Perfect.

This hotel is located very near the high-speed railway station, which makes it very convenient for a business traveller. Breakfast buffet was good, but nothing special due to a lack of international food on offer - mostly they served local asian food. However, internet was super-fast and the interior of the rooms is very nice and spacey. Plus, the bathrooms are just breathtaking ....

It is close from the factory that i visit, so I always use this hotel. Not right in the middle of the city, it was better for me to travel to airport and the offices in the industrial area. Best thing was the free wireless, high speed connection from my room. So convenient for work, trip planning and entertainment. Although sometimes they slowly understand my requests in English, never failed to get what i wanted from them. New mall is built in close distance, (3 min. walk distance), and i was able to get everything that i needed from the supermarket at the basement of the mall. Buffet in the morning is very nice and cheap. Traditional foods are plenty and fast foods as well, KFC, Mc. Pizza hut... Walking to Confusis'temple is very relaxing exercise in the morning. (In the night the street is too crowded most of the time)

The service was excellent throughout the hotel (from concierge to reception to restaurant). In fact, it has the best service of all hotels I have stay in China before. The location is good for business traveller which is less than 10 mins taxi ride from city centre. The hotel area is located in one of the most upclass area in Suzhou and you can find handful of restaurants around. The room is rather mediocre by standard throughout the rest of the hotel, but is comfortable enough. Free wifi in room but signal is weak.

Many postive things could be said about the location and the cleanliness of the hotel. But I like to take this opportunity to commend the staff. I had a small unattended cut on my knuckles. While going through the checking-in process, one member of the staff noticed my cut and went on to tend to it. Brought out the first aid kit, nurse it and passed me additional handiplasts. It was a small cut that I thought would heal but they insisted on helping me because it was winter and they said it could get infected easily. Also, we asked the hotel to book a cab for us upon checking out. The cab arrived early and was waiting quite far away. To ensure that we know where the cab was, the receptionist escorted us in ‘6 degrees’ cold to the cab and it was quite a distance away! Even the driver thought she was very thoughtful. Mind you, a 5-Star hotel in our next destination in China, the staff didn’t help us with our luggage to the cab just outside the door! Good job, Pace! Will be back!

Very close to the speed train railway. We came from Shanghai and it was a 9 minute cab ride to this hotel. Staff was really nice and helped as much as they could. Unfortunately room service wasn't 24hrs and the hot tubs / jacuzzi weren't working... However our overall stay was perfect. We came to go see the big buddah and that's 50 min. cab drive. We didn't mind because the hotel was at a very central area. The mall across the street has the best japanese grill place on the 7th floor. Super cheap too!

It is really worth to stay at this hotel with reasonable and consider cheap as compare to others 5 star hotel. The room is spacios and clean. The staff are freindly and responsive to our request and directions to go to the attractions. Do ask from the reception if you need a map. Convenient to the tourist spots where the Guan Qian Jie is just within walking distance. Also recommend to visit Ping Jiang Road - historical street.

This hotel is actually meant for families with (small) children. We have never seen anywhere in the world so far, a hotel with such facilities for the kids , it is almost incredible ! There is nothing what you can think of, that is missing to please the little ones, also in the restaurant. The personnel is exceptionally friendly and helpful , unfortunately almost nobody understands even a smallest bit of english apart from 2or 3 people at the reception desk. The food is really good, the positionning of the hotel at the lake is beautiful. The old city center is also at walking distance. Personnel did not seem to know that there is a direct subway connection to Suzhou from Tongli and advised a taxi, since the bus is riding only twice a day.

I've stayed in quite a few Western-owned five-star hotels in China, so I have an idea what to expect, and the Xinhua Media GDH falls far short of what it bills itself as. First of all, I should say that the service is really good. For instance, when we requested replacement towels, they were there in two minutes. But beyond that... everything looked nice, but was shoddy. The doors were all warped, so the closet and the bathroom wouldn't shut. Speaking of the bathroom, there was not a single hook on which to hang your clothes or a wet towel. The exhaust fan didn't work. The hot water took five minutes to arrive, and when it go there, half the nozzles on the shower head didn't work. We wanted to store our milk in the minibar refrigerator, but it was locked -- who locks the minibar? And the free breakfast buffet: If you arrive when it starts, there's not enough seating and all the food items run out quickly. If you wait until the crowd is gone, they don't bother replenishing the empty food trays. The waitstaff stands and watches the guests scrounge for silverware and chopsticks. In short, if you want a five-star hotel, go to a Marriott or a Sheraton.
